Herbie is always eating lollipops, even when sleeping. There are special lollipops for time-travel and bopping, and we learn that Herbie loses many of his powers without lollipops. Herbie is always on the look-out for hard-to-get cinnamon.

Herbie keeps his precious lollipops in a locked lollipop chest and carries them on his person in a lollipop belt. One of the few ways to upset Herbie is to threaten to take his lollipops. Herbie gets some lollipops, eating lollipops, in local stores, but he also gets powerful ones from the Unknown. In three Herbie stories, Herbie loses his lollipops, or they lose their power:

  • #2a - Herbie and the Purloined Pops!
  • #18a - Calling all Cars! Bring in Fat Fury!
  • #22a - Just Like Magic!
  • PANT for Lollipops
  • Index terms: lollipop, favors, hard-to-get cinnamon, lollipop belt, lollipop chest, strawberry is loaded, Richard E. Hughes, Ogden Whitney
