When Herbie was introduced in Forbidden Worlds #73, he showed emotion, but his character grew out of it by the Herbie series. In his first three appearances in Forbidden Worlds, he had eyebrows; they were gone in FW #114.

By the end of his Forbidden Worlds appearances (#116), Herbie had lost apparent emotion. Here, he is confronted by the Devil.

In the first Herbie comic issue, Herbie drives Sonny Liston crazy with his lack of enthusiasm.

In #1b, ??!!??, but the face does not change

In #2b, a flash of insight is not visible on his face.

In #3b, Herbie's parents react to the loss of "all that beautiful money" with the all their emotion, but Herbie...

Bullets. Don't like. Getting annoyed.

In #9b, Herbie faints when faced with the possibility of harming his beloved Dad. His family is his soft spot.

#10a: Well, that gets a response!

Herbie can be flustered from modesty.

In #11a, the smell of cinnamon lollipop gets a rise out of Herbie's hair, but not his face.

Herbie does say AH-HHHHH! though.

#14: Herbie as Fat Fury with other super heroes. They are MAD and FURIOUS while Herbie is SLIGHTLY ANNOYED.

Herbie can get flustered in matters of love.

A response to lollipops less than in #11a.

#20: The Fat Fury in a bit of a risqué situation, certainly undignified

#22: In later issues, Herbie seemed to become concerned with appearances (maybe "concerned" is too strong)

More indignation from Herbie in the final issue (maybe a metaphor for the demise of the series)

In "The Most Beautiful Mom in the World!" (1992), Herbie appeared startled and worried, and he did not even look too much like Herbie throughout the comic.

In Flaming Carrot #31, Herbie is appropriately deadpan, even facing a psychopath.

In "Pass the Puck Herbie" (1996), Herbie not only showed emotion, but fear. This is not like Herbie!
